Throughout the life of a die a wear ring forms, vertical wear lines appear, and the diameter opens beyond original specifications. In most cases, a die can be opened to the next size in the string. Often this can be done 3-10 times during the life of the die, distributing the investment in PCD over many sizes.
US Synthetic provides a full inspection on each set of dies to determine the minimum increase in size. Dies with minimal wear can be cleaned up and still hold size.
